Following God's call to care for orphans by providing adoption and orphan awareness.
In His Hands Orphans Outreach

What We Do

One of the main objectives of In His Hands Orphans Outreach is to inform people about the tremendous number of orphans in the world and their great need. The United Nations estimates there to be 143 million orphans in the world.

Only 80,000 children are adopted by Americans each year. There are over 400,000 churches in the U.S. If each church helped just one child to be adopted each year, five times as many children would be adopted annually! I believe God wants to reach Christians through the church to open many hearts to adoption and to help the children who remain in orphanages.

People need to see that adoption is not about infertility. It is about responding to God’s call to care for the orphans. James 1:27 states: “Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress and to keep oneself from being polluted by the world.”

The Dave Thomas Foundation for Adoption shows that forty percent of Americans have considered adoption at some point in their lives. Only two percent have proceeded to adopt. Many people do not know where to obtain the information they need to begin the adoption process. Through the church, we can reach the people and help them through the adoption process.

What In His Hands Does to Help Orphaned Children:

1. Meetings are held the first Monday of each month at 7:00 pm at Rochester Christian Church. This is an opportunity people to find out how to get involved in helping orphans.

2. A Bible study on adoption is held. It is a five week course published by Family Life that leads a couple through scripture, questions and concerns about adoption. This is a class each church can offer on a regular basis.

3.There will be an adoption and orphans bulletin board displayed at any church willing to let us post one, with information on adoption and orphan care available for people to look at. Pictures of children available are posted so that people can pray for them to find a family or choose to adopt one. We also track the progress of people going through the adoption process so church members can know how to pray for them.

4. In His Hands helps churches to get involved in caring for orphans. We will assist any church with this.

5. An orphan and adoption conference is held 1-2 times each year.
